Day 12 Return to Humility and Hope

My heart is not proud, O Lord, My eyes are not haughty; I do not concern myself with great matters or things too wonderful for me. But I have stilled and quieted my soul; like a weaned child with its mother, like a waned child is my soul within me. O Israel, put your hope in the Lord both now and forevermore.  Psalm 131

It’s a little ironic - and also no mistake - that before we can truly return to God, we have to lay down our pride. In our extreme “mefocused” world it’s easy to overvalue ourselves and undervalue others.  But from the very first phrase of Psalm 131, we are reminded to reset and refocus our hearts. By laying down our pride, we admit that we are not in control and that we can be content with God’s leading in our lives.  His leading may not be the plan that we had in mind, but we can rest in the fact that His ways are so much greater than we could ever imagine. Read this passage again and say the words out loud. Let it be your prayer to Jesus today. Are you content with God’s leading in your life? Take a moment to calm and quite your soul… and put your hope in the Lord.
Pray—Psalm 131
