Day 1 - Return to the Lord

"Neither before nor after Josiah was there a king like him who turned to
the LORD as he did—with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his
strength." 2 Kings 23:25 (NIV)

Turned (shoob)-to turn back

II Kings 22:2 Josiah “did what was right in the eyes of the Lord.”
Josiah cleans up and rebuilds the temple of God. The book of the Law,
that had not been read or obeyed in a long while, was read to Josiah and
his heart was broken for he and his people had not been faithful to obey
God and His word.

Josiah gathers all the people and reads the word of God to them.
The King and people renew a covenant with God, to turn back to the
Lord and follow Him with all their hearts.

Through the years, they had actually allowed articles for pagan
gods to be placed in the Lord’s temple. Immediately the entire pagan
articles where removed and burned. Josiah and the people returned to the
Lord with their whole hearts.

Sometimes over a period of time, “pagan articles” build up in our
lives. Are there any “pagan articles” that need to be removed from our
lives as we return to God with our whole hearts?

Pray—Dear Lord, as I read your word daily, please reveal to me any
“pagan articles” of this world that I need to get rid of in order to return
to you with my whole heart. Help me have the courage and strength to
throw out anything that keeps me from total commitment to you as Lord,
Master, and King of my life.
In Jesus name. Amen.
